Bicycle Network Board elections

If you are a Bicycle Network member you will soon be getting an email inviting you to vote for two new Board Members.

Two of the candidates are well known to Freestyle Cyclists and have been supporters of ours for years.

Below is a message from Jenica Brooke, who we have spotted on our annual protest rides.  The other candidate is Faith Hunter, who you may remember as the editor of Treadlie Magazine, which under her editorship featured photography of people riding bikes without personal safety gear such as helmets, often on the front cover.

Here is Jenica’s message:

I am writing to seek your support in the upcoming Bicycle Network board elections (voting open 1-16 Oct).

I hope that if successful in joining the board, I will be better able to influence change, for safer outcomes for cyclists. In particular, I hope to continue my longstanding advocacy for Minimum Passing Distance Legislation; building a network of safe bike lanes; and improved driver education and training.

Note there are two positions open at this time. Fellow candidate, Faith Hunter, and I are co-hosting a meet and greet at Commuter Cycles tomorrow night (Monday 30 Sep), from 5-6pm. If you’d like to hear from each of us about what we’re hoping to achieve on the BN Board, and ask us any questions, please come along!
