Hi everyone,
For Melbourne members. Markus Egli, our rides co-ordinator, has worked out a social ride for next Sunday, April 7th.
This ride takes us to a trail we have not tried before in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne – the Mullum Mullum creek trail. This ride involves about 30km of riding so we will get some good exercise. The ride runs from Nunawading station to Eltham station and starts at 11.00.
Here are the details from Markus.
“Start is at Nunawading Station from where we cycle through Nunawading, Mitcham and Donvale, but mainly on quiet side roads to get to Mullum Mullum Creek Trail. From there the fun starts and we follow the creek to where it merges with the Yarra river and keep following the Yarra to where it merges with the Diamond Creek. Then we cycle along Diamond Creek to Eltham.
There is a park half was along the trail with water, toilets and I think some tables and benches as well. As there are no shops or cafes on the trail I advise to bring along a picnic lunch. At the end in Eltham there is a bookshop/cafe with a big terrace across the road from the railway station, which would be a good place to finish off before returning to the city by train.
Because of the many train maintenance works, we need to change trains in Richmond. First catch the 10.12 am Sandringham train to Richmond (arrival 10.15 am). Then change trains for the 10.19 am Belgrave train and arrive at Nunwading at 10.50 am for an 11.00 am start.”
No disruptions are predicted for the Hurstbridge Line on our way home. ”
